They’re a vital part of our operations here at TWO Services – but unless you’re a client of ours, you won’t be aware of the important role that our sales and marketing staff play in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

We caught up with Fern, our Business Development Executive, and our Sales & Marketing Coordinators Gabbi and Paula to find out what they get up to inside and outside of the office.

How did you find your role here at TWO?

I’ve always been in sales positions throughout my career. Previously, I worked at a green energy company as a Team Leader. Around 8 years ago, I decided I wanted to look for a more challenging role, and I heard about a position that had come up at TWO through a family connection. I immediately liked the vibe here and could see the potential for progression, too.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I manage the sales diaries and logistics for the sales reps that are out on the road, and I’m also responsible for maintaining strong relationships with many of our caterers. Plus, there’s all the admin that comes with these jobs, which shouldn’t be underestimated.

What can you say about how things work behind the scenes at TWO?

One thing I will mention is that we are always open to making our internal processes more streamlined and efficient. If somebody has a great idea on how to improve things, leadership will always consider it. We’re definitely not stuck in our ways and we especially like listening to feedback from new recruits who have done things differently in their previous roles and are willing to teach us how we can be and do better.

What’s your proudest achievement in the last few years?

My job title has recently changed from Business Development Coordinator to Business Development Executive. It’s nice to be recognised for what I do.

What’s something that people might not know about you?

Most of me is covered in tattoos. It took a good 10 years to get to where I am with my body art, but I’m really pleased. There’s a bit of space left on my knees, but that’s about it! In my spare time, I also like to experiment with special effects makeup. As you can probably guess, Halloween is my favourite time of year!

What are your main responsibilities at TWO?

A big part of my day involves following up with clients after they have undergone a site survey and received quotes from us, to see if they wish to go ahead with the work. From there, I’ll help them find a suitable date. I also assist with transferring calls for maintenance equipment and booking diary appointments for our operations team.

Where did you work previously?

I worked in childcare for 15 years as a nursery nurse, looking after children from 3 months to 5 years old. I was also the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) within my role, meaning I would have to meet with other professionals such as social workers for any children that were on a child protection plan. After the pandemic I knew it was a time to change directin, so I applied for my position at TWO about two years ago, and here I am.

What do you like the most about working at TWO?

Everyone in the business is very welcoming and approachable. You spent a lot of your waking life at work, so you want to make sure you’re around nice people, and I can say that I really enjoy being part of the team here.

What do you like to do outside of the office?

I love having days out with my daughter in London and taking our dog out on walks to the woods. I do some charity work organising donations for food, clothes and toys for a small domestic violence charity called Changing Pathways. I also love going to the gym!

What skills do you bring to your role at TWO?

I previously worked in the fashion and retail sectors, as well as a supervisor in a hospitality setting. I’m very comfortable liaising with clients and my colleagues and I definitely make use of my organisational skills on a daily basis.

How do you support our team?

Like Gabbi, a lot of my time is spent selling our services and obtaining new clients. I’m often the client’s point of contact as they’re going through the quoting process; I’ll help them organise a suitable time and date for one of our sales executives to attend their site and carry out a site survey before putting together a quote.

What’s changed the most at TWO since you started working with us just over a year ago?

I’m relatively new to the company – so many of our staff have been here for years, if not decades! – but I think the biggest change is bringing more catering clients on board. It means that there are many more sales opportunities in the pipeline and our department is busier than ever.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not in the office?

I don’t do much outside of work, but I enjoy brunches and spending time with family and friends. Life is constantly changing so I’m just going with the flow currently.
